Modern science has always argued the ancient Hindu beliefs, whether be it on the existence of God or the various Shastras based on the writings of the wise saints of Bharat (now known as India).
The advance of science has also assisted in the mathematical calculations which have led to development of software for charting the movement of stars. But are the Jyotish Vidwaans correct in their beliefs or is Astrology really not a Shastra or science?
There is a line in support. What we know as science is the Gyan/knowledge which the saints had probably thousands of years ago. By birth, the human being is connected to the three aspects of life, namely the Destiny, the Astrology and the Vaastu. Destiny consists partly of karma and thus these factors rule the human life.
So then what is Astrology and what are its salient features?
Astrology is the science of predicting the life path or events in the life of a person by using the position of the stars and certain planets at the time of birth. The position of stars in the subsequent phases of life is charted out and the malefic or the good effects are studied. This science involves the seven planets from our solar system. These are:
SURYA OR THE SUN
CHANDRA OR THE MOON
MANGAL OR THE MARS
BUDH OR THE MERCURY
GURU OR THE JUPITER
SHUKRA OR THE VENUS
SHANI OR THE SATURN
In addition to these there are the two shadow planets as per Hindu mythology, the Rahu and the Ketu.
In the Indian astrology method, there are Twelve Rashis and also Twenty Seven Nakshatras. Basic birth chart is made based on either the KP or the Krishnamurthy system or the Parashara method. The position of the stars in the 12 houses is determined based on the position of starts at the time of the birth, as also the exact latitude and longitude of the place of birth.
Each Rashi or house has a Lord or Swami. For example, the Aeries or the Mesh Rashi is ruled by the Sun or the Surya. It is a well accepted fact that planets affect the human body organs as also the various aspects of the person’s life and thus while studying the Horoscope the effect of the particular planet based in the respective house is taken into account.
Hence after taking into account the complete picture and understanding the good and the malefic effect of each planet that one can arrive at a proper conclusion of the persons’ status in this birth as also consider the remedies applicable to that chart.
Astrology is a complex study owing to several reasons. With 12 Houses and 12 Rashis, 27 Nakshatras as well as the Nine Planets, there can be millions of combinations to be studied as also the movement of the Planets which affect the environment. Generalized Horoscope reading is common.
